Feeding Your Horses Naturally

Horses need regular meals spread evenly throughout the day to closely mimic their natural grazing behavior and to prevent gastric ulcers and digestive disorders. HIT Active Stable in Germany has used automatic horse feeding systems for hay and grain for more than 23 years, which allow you to divide the feed into up to 20 meals.
There are a number of different options available for forage and grain feedings. Choose from the different automatic horse feeding systems to meet your needs:
- Computer-controlled Single Shutter Hay Feeders for individual paddocks and stalls
- Time-controlled Shutter Hay Feeder for group/herd feeding
- Transponder feeding stations to meet individual horse's hay and grain requirements while kept in a group/herd.
Transponder-Controlled Automatic Feeding Stations

- The transponder technique allows you to feed horses that are kept in a herd individually and undisturbed.
- The amount of hay and grain can be individually programmed for each horse on the same hay diet.
- Feeding times can be programmed in small portions throughout the day, up to 20 times.
Includes Shutter Hay Feeder, Grain/Supplement Feeder, and fencing. Customer builds housing according to our specs.
How it works:
Each horse in a group receives a collar with a transponder, which opens the automatic gate of the feeding station at set times. The horse enters the feeding station for an individually programmed time to consume roughage as well as grain and supplements as needed for the specific horse. The feeding time is divided by several feeding intervals throughout the day with the aid of the transponder technology. Once the programmed time is up, the shutter of the hay dispenser within the feeding station closes and the horse leaves the feeding station through a gate or door. This way, horses in a group or herd can be fed individually without being disturbed by the others.
Shutter Hay Feeders

Shutter Hay Feeders with multiple feeding slots are primarily used for horses living in a herd in large paddocks or pasture paddocks with similar hay feeding needs. We offer Shutter Hay Feeders with 1-4 openings slots depending on the size of the group and on-site conditions.
The smallest unit is HIT “SINGLE” Shutter Hay Feeder followed by the “DUO” model which has two Shutter Hay Feeders, whereby the largest unit “MAXI” has 4 shutter feeding slots. Housing structures for the automatic horse feeding system need to be built by customer.
For time-controlled feeding of larger herds and round bale feeding up to 16 horses we recommend 4 of the MAXI Shutter Feeders installed in a square and covered by a roof. See our examples what the housing structures could look like.
Shutter Hay feeder HIT-SINGLE

The HIT “SINGLE” Shutter Hay Feeder is designed for horses kept in a single paddock and horse stall. This time-controlled slow feeder feeds multiple meals and easily holds an entire 120-lb bale of hay, enough hay to feed your horse for 5-6 days. The HIT Single Feeder is ideal for private farms and boarding facilities, saving the owner or caregiver labor cost and time. Housing of the Shutter Hay Feeder and hay needs to be built by customer. We will provide drawings and specs.
